Blue Ocean Film Festival Reaches an Agreement With MCI Group to Act as Its Sponsorship and Licensing Procurement Arm

Stradling client Blue Ocean Film Festival (BLUE) entered into an agreement with MCI Group (MCI) for MCI to act as a sponsorship and licensing procurement arm for BLUE. The agreement was the result of a three-month negotiation, culminating in a three-day in-person session in Vancouver, BC in early June. MCI’s core team is based in Vancouver and previously worked with the Canadian government in a similar capacity for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In November 2015, BLUE will travel to the Principality of Monaco to put on a three-day version of its bi-annual seven-day film festival to honor the best in ocean filmmaking and to collaborate on issues facing our oceans. Attendees are expected to include Prince Albert, members of the Cousteau family, Jeremy Irons, James Cameron, and Ocean elders such as Don Walsh, who made a record maximum descent into the Mariana Trench on January 23, 1960 - the deepest point of the world's oceans at 35,798 feet. Tom Speiss will be speaking on branding and IP management at the Monaco event.

Tom Speiss (Santa Monica) led the negotiations for BLUE. Stradling acts as General Counsel for the BLUE, with Tom Speiss and Mark Skaist (Newport Beach) forming the representation team.
