Doug is a partner in Stradling's Intellectual Property practice group. Before he began his legal career, he was an engineering technologist for Applied Materials, Inc. in Austin, Texas. This practical, real world business experience combined with his legal experience allows him to understand complex technical issues and has made him invaluable in Markman hearings and technical case analysis.

In addition to litigating many patent cases, he has also litigated trademark, copyright, trade secret, and other intellectual property and commercial litigation.  In addition to litigation, he handles patent prosecution which gives him additional insight that aids in analyzing patent claims. Doug has successfully represented both patent owners as plaintiffs and major corporations as defendants. His prosecution experience includes patent and trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Doug arms companies with a clear understanding of the real value of their IP and the confidence to stand firm in difficult disputes. Whether at trial in a patent or trade secret misappropriation case or prosecuting patent and trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Doug positions his clients to win through proactive, enforcement-minded strategies. Where others see opportunities to simply co-exist in the marketplace or abandon their stake altogether, Doug leverages his IP experience to craft creative and tenacious arguments that prevail in court.
