With a focus on complex business disputes involving business divorces, fiduciary breaches, and breaches of contract, Justin’s aggressive yet thoughtful approach to litigation helps his clients secure early victories and avoid protracted lawsuits. Justin has litigated disputes in all industries, and frequently represents IT hardware resellers goods against manufacturers’ claims of counterfeit, interference with contract, and trademark infringement.

Following a one-year federal clerkship in the Central District of California, Justin honed his trial skills at a large litigation firm where he handled high-profile lawsuits, including a record-breaking fraud case resulting in a $5 billion recovery for his client.  Since joining Stradling in 2015, Justin has a track record of decisive victories for his clients, earning him the regard of clients and peers alike.

Justin’s representative matters include:

  • Currently defending clients in a series federal of lawsuits filed by Cisco Systems against participants in the secondary market for IT hardware products, including allegations of counterfeit, interference with contract, and “end-user” fraud.  Justin has repeatedly defeated attempts to establish jurisdiction in California over his out-of-state clients.
  • Obtained a dismissal with prejudice of federal fraud and racketeering claims asserted against national dental services company Coast Dental, and four of the company’s executives.
  • Secured a rare dismissal with prejudice (upheld at the Ninth Circuit) on behalf of client Endologix in a “stock drop” securities class action lawsuit.  The Ninth Circuit ruled that plaintiff's theory of liability had "no basis in logic or common experience."
  • Obtained a complete defense verdict on summary judgment for Western Digital Corporation against claims that the company had breached a licensing agreement. Western Digital was cleared of all liability and awarded its attorneys’ fees.
  • As lead trial counsel, Justin defeated an involuntary bankruptcy petition filed against client KP3 Endeavors, Inc.
  • Obtained dismissal of counterclaims asserted against his clients, a rapidly-growing privately held company and its CEO.
  • Represented the Litigation Trustee on behalf of multiple U.S. states and the Navajo Nation, in an environmental contamination and fraudulent transfer case brought against Anadarko Petroleum and Kerr McGee.  After a four-month trial in New York federal court, the team achieved a record-breaking $5.15 billion settlement.

Justin has been recognized as a leading attorney in the field of business and commercial litigation, and was included in the Orange County Business Journal’s 2022 “OC 500 Directory of Influence.”   He was identified as a 2023 Super Lawyer, an honor limited to the top 5% of the profession, and on the Best Lawyers’ List for 2022 and 2023.  Before that, Justin was recognized as a "Southern California Rising Star" for six consecutive years, from 2015-2020.  In 2020, he was named to Super Lawyers' "Up and Coming 25: Orange County Rising Stars List" and “Up and Coming 100: Southern California List.”

Justin is active in the Orange County community, serving as on the Orange County Youth Sports Foundation’s Board of Directors, and coaching youth basketball teams for his three daughters.
