Major Casino Secures Agency Resolution for Groundwater Plume

Worked closely with a major casino operation located in Lake Tahoe, Nevada to resolve a claim involving alleged groundwater contamination from several onsite sources, potentially including USTs, ASTs, a limosine wash-down, dry-cleaners, spas and pools, and a golf course, all of which were in a pristine setting with a sensitive receptor nearby (Lake Tahoe). In a very short timeframe, we met with facility operations personnel, reviewed hundreds of documents, and negotiated a consent decree with state regulators. Oversight work continued with agency approval for a then novel groundwater remediation process involving in situ injection of Fenton’s Reagent to eliminate residual MTBE in the groundwater.*
