Shahzad A. Malik is chair of Stradling's Tax practice group and a shareholder in the firm's Corporate and Securities practice group.
Shahzad has significant experience in corporate and fund tax matters such as mergers and acquisitions, private equity fund formations and transactions, and international taxation. In addition to transactional matters, Shahzad represents clients in civil and criminal tax controversy matters before the U.S. Tax Court, Franchise Tax Board, and IRS. He holds specialized expertise in tax matters related to large and mid-market transactions.
Represented a public company CEO in a tax investigation involving option backdating and tax shelter participation.
Represented the Creditors Committee of Washington Mutual, Inc.
