Stradling Adds Experience in Santa Barbara with Addition of Cooley Business Partner Ian Smith

Santa Barbara, CA (July 10, 2017) Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth announced the addition of Ian Smith as a Shareholder in its Santa Barbara office, bolstering the firm’s venture capitalemerging companies and M&A deal teams.

Ian is a notable member of the Santa Barbara legal community, having practiced law in the area for over 18 years, most recently as a partner with Cooley, LLP. Ian was also a partner at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton and started his career at Nida & Maloney in Santa Barbara.

With clients ranging from startups and emerging growth companies, to large publicly traded corporations, Smith has extensive experience in private and public securities, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions. Ian’s more notable deals include SingTel’s acquisition of the US operations of Adconion Media, LegalZoom’s equity sale to Permira, Fidelity National Financial’s sale of One Digital to New Mountain Capital and TrackR’s Preferred Stock financing transactions
