August 2018

Santa Monica, CA (August 1, 2018) - Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth, a Professional Corporation, announced today the addition of Thomas A. Waldman as a shareholder in the firm’s Santa Monica office and a member of the firm’s Corporate practice group. Prior to joining Stradling, Waldman was Managing Director, Legal at The Gores Group, LLC, a Los Angeles based private equity firm. He acted as general counsel to the Gores Small Capitalization Partners fund and several of its portfolio companies.

"Tom has been living and breathing private equity M&A and portfolio company work every day in the middle market and lower middle market for Gores for more than a decade. He is an inspired addition to an already solid squad of M&A and corporate professionals in the Santa Monica office and will further enhance our ability to serve the middle market and lower middle market PE community,” said Dayan Rosen, Managing Shareholder of the Santa Monica office.

At Stradling, Waldman will focus primarily on private equity transactions. In over 20 years representing Gores and other private equity firms, he has advised on platform and add-on investments, portfolio company legal matters, and exit transactions. He also has experience in public-to-private buyouts, structured equity investments, distressed investments, and fund formation.

“Stradling’s lawyers have impressive capabilities, and have secured excellent results for clients, in general middle market M&A and private equity,” said Waldman. “I am confident my experience at Gores, as a law firm client and part of a team investing partners’ capital, and my time as outside counsel, will be an asset to our corporate and private equity clients.”

Waldman earned his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.A. from Harvard University. He serves on the Board of Directors of Kelsey National Corporation.
