The summer associate program is our main recruitment tool. We seek students with strong academic records who have participated in law review, moot court or other law school activities, or who have previous work experience. Our interviewers also look to ensure that prospective summer associates are outgoing, capable and confident.

Although we travel to many top law schools across the country, our summer classes tend to be small, for three reasons. First, we do not have hiring quotas. Second, we are very selective. Third, we believe that a smaller summer class makes it easier for you to get to know us, and for us to get to know you.

The goal of our summer program is to expose law students to the day-to-day practice of law within our firm. Summer associates have the opportunity to meet and work with partners and associates in each of our practice groups. They interact with clients and staff members.  They perform “real-life” work assignments. They attend negotiation sessions, deal closings, depositions, and court hearings.

We recruit summer associates during the prior Fall. Law students interested in joining Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth should sign up for an on-campus interview. Please consult the On Campus Interviews list to see if we will visit your school for interviews.

If we are not interviewing at your school, or if you are unable to interview with us, you may apply for a summer associate position by submitting your cover letter, resume and transcript to our Recruiting Coordinator.
