Bruce D. May’s practice centers on labor and employment law and litigation on behalf of management. His areas of expertise include wrongful discharge counseling and litigation; sexual harassment and equal employment issues; employment contracts; commission and compensation plans; drafting and implementing employee handbooks and personnel policies; family leave, pregnancy, workers compensation and other leaves of absence; wage and hour; safety and health; trade secrets and post employment competition; union campaigns; unfair labor practices; collective bargaining agreements; strikes, picketing, and secondary boycotts; arbitration; and all other areas of personnel administration, focusing on preventive counseling on day-to-day personnel issues.
Mr. May has extensive experience before state and federal trial and appellate courts, the National Labor Relations Board, the California Labor Commissioner, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Mr. May received his J.D. degree in 1979 from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he participated in the Moot Court Honors Program and was named Most Improved Advocate. He received his B.A. degree in 1976 from the University of California, Berkeley, where he received the Sherman Bennett Prize for Political Science Writing.
